MTV Networks International, Amsterdam, to expand with Miranda’s monitoring and routing equipment

Montreal – March 2, 2010 – Miranda Technologies today announced that MTV Networks International, Amsterdam (MTVNI Amsterdam) has ordered two Kaleido-X multi-viewers and an NVISION 8576 enterprise class router for a system expansion, which will allow playout of up to 75 channels from July 2010.

The additional equipment is part of a project to consolidate a number of MTV Networks International operations to its facility located in Amsterdam’s Media Wharf and eliminate the cost of outsourcing playout to third parties.

“We have relied upon Miranda’s equipment for a number of years, and it has been a key part of our successful operations. With this expanded playout system, we can achieve a significantly lower cost per channel”, says Erik Walrecht, Broadcast Solutions Architect at MTVNI Amsterdam.

Two Kaleido-X multi-viewers, each configured 96x4, will feed multiple 70” cube displays in the facility’s two new master control rooms. The Kaleido-X system was selected following the success of an earlier Kaleido-K2 multi-viewer system.

“The Kaleido-X was our natural choice, with its sophisticated alarm reporting and impressive layout capabilities”, says Erik Walrecht.

MTVNI Amsterdam plans to integrate its existing Miranda iControl facility monitoring system with the new Kaleido-X multi-viewers. The iControl system will display streaming video with audio level meters and Closed Captioning text from control probes across the system.

An ultra-resilient NVISION 8576 router, populated as 306x612, will be operated by an NVISION 9000 router controller, and will sit at the heart of MTVNI Amsterdam’s playout operations. It will feed the facility’s signal processing and transportation to the different regions.

The new equipment adds to MTVNI Amsterdam’s existing playout system which already incorporates a number of Imagestore750 master control/channel branding processors.

“With Miranda’s Imagestore system, we can easily insert fill/key signals from external graphics servers, such as the SMS text messaging on Chat TV’s Matchmakers show, as well as emergency text during live shows”, says Erik Walrecht.

The MTVNI Amsterdam facility shares playout of its MTV and Nickelodeon channels with MTVNI London.
